Summary
Augmented Curiosities: Virtual Play in African Pasts and Futures is an immersive exhibition that places African material culture in the hands of its visitors. As an Innovator-in-Residence for Media Technology and Innovation, I developed the project through collaborations with Northwestern University Library, especially the Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies, and Northwestern IT.
Augmented Curiosities is designed to promote the Herskovits Library’s object collection and provoke conversations about how virtual reality and augmented reality can reshape museum storytelling strategies. The video documents the exhibition and the broader collaborative XR curatorial process behind it.
